An attic as a work of art, in Prague

We present this penthouse located in a neighborhood of the cosmopolitan city of Prague, Vinohrady. A house of approximately 200 m2. The disposition adjustments were minimal, thanks to previous interventions. Simplicity, warmth, spaciousness, and above all, a lot of light. One of the cornerstones in the design was the large collection of works of art that manages to bathe the entire space with a pleasant chromatic rhythm. An original and flexible reform, dotted with diversity, which managed to generate a light and open space. Thus, the new program is articulated with the intention of providing abundant natural light to each room, creating a dynamic interior, and highly functional.
It is impossible to deny the prominence of the living room, the authentic heart of this house, where the rooms are articulated at intermediate levels. As if it were a ship. Dominated by the growing ficus and the spacious multilevel relaxing platform that evokes the «archetypal rural oven«. This unusual atypical interior is customized for the clients, integrating a large format sofa with chairs and a conference table, a library or an interior space that serves children as a bunker. So the main stay of the house is open diaphanous, bringing together different parts of the program to shape a single multifunctional room under the same light.
The handrail of interlaced strings is covered as a guardrail, allowing at the same time perception of the different levels as a whole and facilitating the entry of light to the last corner of the house. The spaces are released and the house breathes. The large-format painting of the owners' favorite artist is now printed on the glass on the kitchen desk, offering a Showcase of light and color in a surprising visual effect.
In this unitary context, The use of color is important to create scenes and define enclosures. Here you can see how a large skylight bathes the room of great luminosity. The resulting solution employs the bank as a cohesion tool, covering the entire envelope and thus including the cover in the interior design; thus the walls make a neutral gallery background for a growing collection of paintings. A circular cutout on the wall between the bathroom and the living room looks like it's taken from a cabin.
The rearrangement of heights It allowed to multiply the spaces and combine them with the patio and the terrace to make the most of the house and bring light from one facade to another.
The bedroom with a style between rural and futuristIt captures the attention, opening the room to a large terrace facing south that overlook the roofs of the surrounding neighborhood, so natural light lights the space, and everything is submerged in a gentle and delicate atmosphere.
